When designing Prowler workouts, you should know that one of the best ways to decrease body fat, especially visceral belly fat, is with high-intensity work using a relatively larger volume. How effective is this type of work for fat loss? A 2011 study published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise showed that participants who performed a 6-week sprinting program (for a total of 6.75 hours, but only .75 hours of actual sprinting) lost an impressive 12.4 percent body fat and an average of 2-3 kilos of fat mass. In contrast, an endurance training group that ran for a total of 13.5 hours lost only about a half kilo of fat. Although the sprint workouts were performed without resistance, all the other variables of the training were similar to the activity performed in sled training.
